A tax compliance, otherwise known as a Tax Clearance Certificate is an official document issued by KRA, as proof of having filed and paid all your taxes.
KRA issues the following Tax Compliance Certificates upon application:
- Tax Compliance Certificates for Taxpayers seeking tenders with Government Ministries and Institutions.
- Tax Compliance Certificates to employees leaving service nor seeking new job opportunities.
- Tax Compliance Certificates for taxpayers seeking liquor Licenses.
- Tax Compliance Certificates to Clearing and Forwarding Agents

In the KRA online Portal you can be able to Apply a new KRA PIN ,Update a dormarnt KRA PIn and also Apply for a Company PIN.
In the Kra web Portal you can know how to file returns in your Income Tax returns obligations .Income tax is a direct tax that is imposed on income derived from Business, Employment, Rent, Dividends, Interests, Pensions among others.
Individual Income Tax is charged for each year of income on all the income of a person, whether resident or non-resident, which accrued in or was derived from Kenya
in your Payslip you can see on the PAYE section you can see where your taxes are being deducted .The Tax Period of each year is on 30th June in every year.You can file your returns in the KRA web Portal online or through an Agent.
The penalty for Not filing your returns is 2,000 ksh .Its an offense to not file your Tax returns and is punishable by law .
