How does the Ntsa New Driving Licence look like?
These New Smart card DL have been upgraded and are fitted with a chip, much like ATM cards that hold drivers’ information and a points system that is used to discipline drivers each card has 100 points and points are deducted when traffic offenses are committed. If the driver reaches the threshold of 40 points, the license will automatically be canceled.
What happens if the Licence is canceled?
The driver can only re-apply after six months, a regulation that amounts to suspension. The points system is used in countries including the UK, Australia, and Germany. The New smart DL also seeks to eliminate fraud in the acquisition of a driver’s license by preventing the development of fake documents from the back streets. The new smart card costs Ksh3,000 which will be valid for 3 years. After three years the holders of Ntsa New Driving Licence holders will apply again for new permits.
The new generation driving license promises to revolutionize how we approach driving and it is hoped that it will also have a positive effect on driver behavior.
How to apply for New Driving Licence
To apply for new driving licenses, you’ll need to register on NTSA’s Citizen self-service portal, the Transport Integrated Management Systems (TIMS).

To access services available on this platform, you need to create a personal account. To register;
1. Open the NTSA web portal using this Link .

2. After this you will need to log in to your account on Tims Portal
3.On the Login Tab, Put your Username, Password that you got or we sent you through your order.
4.Click on ‘Get code’ you will get a code, use the code as your ‘Security code’ and login.
The Actual application
After login you will see the Following tab,
Go to ‘Driving License Tab’ on the upper part of the Menu.

2.Click on the tab, on the left you will see ‘New smart Dl application’ , you will see all y our details,add your Blood group Details and Make payments.
NB: All payments are made to Paybill 206206 [Ecitizen] never make any payment to any other Paybill.
3.After Payment, you will be redirected to print your invoice.
4.Go to the booking tab and book your session for biometrics at the NTSA office near you.
5.Once you are there You will have your details Taken, Picture and Biometrics . Once done you wait for SMS to collect your New DL.
